Anomaly Guide#3
Centering Device Not in Standby Position
Related Pictures
First determine which device triggered the anomaly by examining the anomaly message on the application's computer console (within the Metalprogetti B2K/BAM application).
For Uniform Conveyor Systems running B2K
The anomaly record will contain both the CONVEYOR number as well as a POINT description which indicates the faulting device (arm, gate, etc).
For Storage Systems running BAM
The device ID is made up of 4 digits - the first 2 indicate the conveyor ID, the second 2 indicate the device ID. In the following examples, XX represents conveyor ID while the last 2 digits represent the device. Main conveyor anomalies will always be XX-00, extraction arm anomalies will always be XX-01 through XX-10 depending on how many arms are installed, and feedrail anomalies will always be XX-11 as demonstrated below.
Main conveyor anomalies will show as XX-00 | Anomaly 3 Centering Device Not in Standby Position 02-00 = conveyor #2
Possible Causes Checks to Perform
Centering device actually stuck in forward position If centering device is stuck in forward position, turn off main power and verify the device disengages from the conveyor belt and retracts to the rest position.

If device retracts, repeatedly press the small button on the solenoid valve to verify the centering device fully extends and retracts without hesitation. If no hesitation is observed, determine if the sensor and detection point are properly adjusted per the following check.

If device hesitates or fails to retract, use the remaining checks to determine why.
Sensor or detection point out of adjustment Verify piston is completely retracted and proximity sensor is not tripped. If sensor is still tripped with device disengaged from the conveyor belt, determine if sensor needs to be raised or standoff bolt needs tweaking - adjust as needed. Once adjusted, use solenoid test button to verify the sensor turns on when device is fully engaged, and the sensor turns off when device is fully retracted.
Retract assistance spring broken or too weak Visually inspect the spring located inside the centering device behind the conveyor belt, replace if broken. If all other checks seem okay, the spring may have become weak and needs to be replaced.
Articulating arm pinched too tight by mount points If device hesitates or fails to move without manual assistance - apply lubrication to the white neoprene spacers above the track. It may also be necessary to slightly reduce pressure on these spacers via the following instructions:

1) Unlock and loosen the 2x horizontal positioning bolts (above the track)
2) Crack loose the 2x forward facing mount bolts (front of track, behind guard)
3) Use screwdriver to gently pry away the aluminum brackets (a tiny amount)

Once the above steps have been completed, gently snug and lock the horizontal positioning bolts (above the track) and tighten the forward facing mount bolts (in front of the track). Once secured, use solenoid test button to verify the centering device fully extends and retracts with ease.
Solenoid valve is stuck in open position If device fails to move even with manual assistance or immediately returns to extended position - check if solenoid valve is stuck in open position via the following instructions:

1) Turn off conveyor and shut off air pressure using MP regulator
2) Mark and remove both air hoses from top of the solenoid valve
3) Turn air pressure back on then repeatedly press the solenoid valve's manual test button to determine if air switches between the fittings
4) Shut off air pressure and restore the hoses according to their marks

If solenoid valve does not shuttle and air only exits one fitting - replace valve and test. If solenoid valve shuttles, check if articulating arm is pinched too tight by the mount points (previous check).
